Welcome To DVCLH

Committed to bringing peace to our island families

The Domestic Violence Clearinghouse and Legal Hotline is committed to ending domestic violence and other forms of abuse through leadership, prevention, legal services, individual and systemic advocacy and social change work.

Based on the feminist principles that all persons should be treated with equality, dignity and fairness, we strive to create safety and self-sufficiency for survivors and the children through high quality and culturally sensitive programs, delivered with integrity and compassion.

Guiding Principles

  • We are committed to confronting the roots of domestic violence, oppression and victim blaming within ourselves and within economic, social and political systems. We are committed to facilitating changes necessary to end oppression and violence by promoting equality among all people.
  • We believe in the safety, health and justice for all domestic violence survivors. We are committed to listening to the voices of survivors and their children, using their expertise to guide our work, and promoting their leadership.
  • We are committed to respecting individual creativity, contributions and cultural differences and promoting equality in all our interactions. To this end, we value honest communication, conflict resolution, professional interactions and active cooperation in our work within the agency and within the community.
  • We recognize that there are many members of the community who have been devalued, marginalized or disenfranchised and therefore, have not had a voice in our society. We are committed to facilitate the inclusion and active participation of these groups and individuals.
  • We provide an environment in which we can attain the best of which we are capable and provide continual learning opportunities to enhance our existing competencies, and develop new skills. We recognize the importance of caring for ourselves, so that we can care for others.
